Just two golfers from the University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) women’s golf team were able to complete their opening rounds prior to a two-hour storm delay during the opening round of the Concordia-St. Paul Classic played at Stoneridge Golf Club in Stillwater, MN. All golfers were eventually able to return to the course and complete their rounds leaving Minnesota Crookston in 11thplace after a first-round team-score of 446, 130 strokes behind leader Augustana, which sits eight strokes ahead of the rest of the field. Augustana’s Hannah Hankinson (Jr., Edina) is the clubhouse leader after an opening round 74, two strokes ahead of teammate McKayla Poppens (Jr., Tea, SD) and Concordia-St. Paul’s Sophie Hill (Sr., Medford).
McKenzie Harris (Sr., Nevis) was the first Golden Eagles golfer to complete her round prior to the inclement weather’s arrival carding a 106 putting her in 62ndplace after 18 holes. Anna Olson (Soph., Fertile) also got into the clubhouse before the lightning made an appearance, with Olson shooting an opening round 115 good for 63rdplace. After the weather delay, Allison Bot (Jr., Minneota) closed out the Golden Eagles’ best round of the day with a 101 good for a 55thplace tie. Camryn Larson (Fr., Fertile) finished her opening round after the storms cleared as well, finishing with a first-round 124 claiming 64thplace heading into the final round.
