STUDIO 110 IN DOWNTOWN CROOKSTON OFFERING SEVERAL EVENTS THIS FALL

Studio 110, located at 110 South Main Street in Downtown Crookston, will be offering a variety of events throughout this fall. Studio 110’s purpose is to provide a welcoming place for digital artists to create, gather and lead.

Rena Bouchard is just starting in public relations and outreach along with being an adult supervisor with the organization and gave some details to the organization’s background. “Studio 110 is a branch off of our in-progress organization,” said Buchard. “That’s a digital arts & media program that we offer to youth. This is a way to give artists a way to use their voice in ways they normally wouldn’t. So, we try to get artists to think outside of the box with how they’re feeling and what they’re going through.”

Studio 110 recently purchased its new location in Downtown Crookston before the COVID-19 Pandemic began back in 2019. They’re excited to offer a variety of classes and events over the next few months for youth artists.

Bouchard talked a little bit about some of the events starting as soon as this upcoming weekend. “On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we have an open studio time from 6:00-8:00 p.m.,” said Bouchard. “On Tuesday during that time, we run an Introduction to Adobe Photoshop course, and we have equipment here that everyone can use. Then on Wednesday, during that time, we do an Intro to Video Making, which covers everything from being behind the camera to editing and music for those interested in that.”

Another event throughout the fall will be Digital Kids taking place every Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. The class is designed to give kids a chance to tell stories through Claymation. A few other classes are offered throughout the fall, and all the events can be found on the In Progress / Studio 110 Facebook page. All events are free to attend for those interested, and have already begun or will be starting next week.

Bouchard was a part of another branch off the in-progress organization called Fresh Voices, which led her to her position with Studio 110. She also says she fell in love with the program because it can offer artists opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t have, and she encourages those interested to attend the events. “I kind of just got sucked into it,” said Bouchard. “It’s a great program, and we offer a lot of classes and opportunities for artists to get their hands on equipment they normally wouldn’t be able to.”

Studio 110 will also have an Artist Talk on Friday, November 5, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. featuring Xavier Tavera. Bouchard talked a little more about the upcoming event. “We do Artist Talks, and the collection we currently have up in the studio is from our Photographer Mentor Xavier Tavera,” said Bouchard. “He is based out of the cities, and he’ll be coming up to have a workshop with us and then will also have a discussion on his most recent exhibit.”
