SUMMER REGISTRATION DAY SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 24

If you’re looking for things for your kids to do during the summer make sure to head on over to the Crookston Sports Center Wednesday, April 24 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for Summer Registration Day.  Community Education Director Denice Oliver said summer registration day was created in response to parents requests to have a one-stop shop for summer activities. “A few years ago we had quite a few parents and community members ask that we put together a Crookston Summer Registration Day to showcase all of the programs being offered in our community,” said Oliver.  “That way parents could come and register for summer programming all in one place, a kind of one-stop shop concept.”

Oliver said that Community Education sometimes gets confused with Crookston Parks and Recreation, but they are different she explains.  “Crookston Park and Rec will be there,” said Oliver.  “Sometimes people get confused by that and think Community Education is Park and Recreation and vice versa.  They are two separate programs and the whole idea behind Community Education is not to replace things already being done but to offer things that aren’t necessarily offered in other parts of our community.”

Many other entities will be there as well with their summer programs including the Crookston Community Pool, Crookston Public Library, the University of Minnesota Crookston and others.  For more on Summer Registration Day, tune into Focus on Education Saturday morning at 8:45 a.m.
