The Department of Defense has designated April as the Month of the Military Child. It is an opportunity to applaud military families and their children for the daily sacrifices they make and the challenges they overcome. Wearing purple is a visible way to show support and thank military youth for their sacrifices. Purple indicates that all branches of the military are supported. Air Force blue, Army green, Navy blue, Marine red and Coast Guard Blue combine as a single color, purple.
Tuesday, April 15, is “Purple UP for Military Kids” day. The American Legion Auxiliary Nels T Wold Unit 20 Crookston is asking the Crookston Community to wear purple on Tuesday, April 15, in support of our Military kids, especially those whose parents are currently deployed. If you know of a family that is directly affected by the deployment of one or both parents, this would be a good day to touch base and see how they are doing.
