The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Swimming team was supposed to be at the Section 8A True Team meet at Grand Rapids today, but the Pirates elected to stay home with the stormy weather. The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Swimming team had a strong showing with eight top-three finishes at the Fosston-Bagley Invitational in Fosston. Fosston-Bagley won the event with 337 points besting Perham/New York Mills bu 21 points. Crookston finished in third place out of four teams with 138 points, 33 points ahead of Staples-Motley. The Crookston Pirate Girl’s swim team had three first place finishes in a 198-48 loss against the Thief River Falls Prowlers in a dual hosted at the Crookston Community Pool. The Pirates simply couldn’t match the depth of Thief River Falls team, but Crookston did have several strong performances in the events they competed in.
