On Thursday, October 5, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office received numerous reports of citizens receiving calls from a 218-877 phone number. The caller claims to be a Deputy with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and claims the person they are calling has a warrant out for their arrest and requests payment to satisfy the warrant.

A utility truck was being pulled behind a dump truck when the rear tire caught on fire. The utility truck was engulfed in flames, upon arrival.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office announced the addition of a new K9 team last week. The duo is Deputy Ben Stout and two-and-a-half-year-old K9 partner Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix Rex.
