KROX and Bergan Travel sponsored a “Take a Trip on Us” contest. When people shopped at twenty-three participating businesses, they entered their name in the drawing. KROX called each one of the participating businesses, and that business drew one name from their box. That person then qualified for the final drawing held after the noon news on February 21. Judy Miller of Goodridge, who registered at Diamond & Designs of Thief River Falls, was the lucky winner of a $2,000 travel gift certificate from Bergan Travel of Thief River Falls to be used for their vacation packages or bus tours. Participating businesses were; Ampride Convenience Mart/Crookston Fuel Company, Anytime Fitness, Brost Chevrolet, Christian Brothers Ford, Crookston Eagles, Erickson Embroidery and Design and Second Street Boutique, HN Quality Plumbing, Happy Joe’s Pizza and Ice Cream Parlor, Hugo’s Family Marketplace, Local Ace Store—Crookston, Opticare, Scobey’s Pub and Grub, Scott’s True Value, The Ranch Bar and Grill at Minakwa and Wonderful Life Foods all of Crookston. They also registered at Diamonds & Design and Purdy’s Shoes in Thief River Falls, Mireault’s Home Furnishings in Fosston, Ness Café in Erskine, Dakota Heritage Bank in Red Lake Falls, Subaru of Grand Forks, One-N-Only in Euclid and PKM Electric in Warren.
