TEARS TO HOST WALK FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION ON SEPTEMBER 15

TEARS (Together We Educate About the Realities of Suicide) Suicide Prevention Project will host its ninth annual TEARS Walk for Suicide Prevention on Sunday, September 15, from 1 – 4 p.m. at UND Wellness Center, 801 Princeton Street. Event registration will begin at 12 p.m. The walk raises funds to bring suicide prevention resources to Grand Forks and its surrounding region. The event also provides a forum for family and friends to remember loved ones who have died by suicide. This year the event will feature guest speaker, Craig Heisinger, Director of Hockey Operations, Winnipeg Jets, and creator of Project 11, a mental wellness program for youth in Manitoba.

Every fifteen minutes, someone ends their own life. Suicide affects families, friends and neighbors. More importantly, suicide is 100 percent preventable. By bringing suicide prevention awareness to light, help and support can be given for those who have considered suicide, as well as their loved ones.

To register, donate or pledge, visit altru.org/tears or call 701.780.1828. One hundred percent of the proceeds stay in the community and region.
