As a part of Ox Cart Days, Hugo’s Family Marketplace in Crookston again hosted the annual Hugo’s Supermarket Sweep Contest on Tuesday evening. This year’s contestants were Te Durbin and Crystal Meine. Each contestant had two minutes to fill their shopping carts with as many groceries as they could without exceeding $300, the closest to the goal dollar amount won the competition. Other guidelines were each contestant had to choose at least one item from every department in the store, and no more than three items in total from the meat, deli, bakery, dairy, and frozen sections.
When the two minutes were up, both contestants went to the cashier to checkout. Crystal Meine totaled her bill at $182.99, and the winner of this year’s Hugo’s Supermarket Sweep Contest Te Durbin, totaled $248.02. Te was given the first-place prize of a $100 gift card to Hugo’s Family Marketplace, and Crystal was given the second-place prize of a $50 gift card to Hugo’s Family Marketplace.
