The Crookston Municipal Airport Commission met on Thursday in the City Hall Conference Room. The agenda had one item – the approval of a Non-Commercial Hangar Lot Lease for Chris Ranten, an airport commission member who was not in attendance.
Ranten wants to build the first privately built hangar at the Crookston Airport and the board approved the lot lease. “We approved a land lot lease for a private individual who wants to build a hangar,” says Crookston Airport Manager Lowell Miller. “He will have a heated hangar so he can store stuff in there, heat it, and put their own airplanes in there. Multiple airplanes, it’s a good-sized hangar.” The airport will benefit from the land lot lease as Ranten rents two other hangers and will free up two hangars.
The Crookston Airport is growing and serves multiple states. Not only will allowing private hangars to be built free up space for other renters, but the city will generate some funds through the land lot lease and taxes. The Airport Commission unanimously approved the Non-Commercial Hangar Lot Lease.
