THREE UMC ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS COMPLETE TERMS

Three members of the University of Minnesota Crookston Campus Advancement and Advisory Board (CAAB) have stepped down after years of service to the Board.

Pete Kappes, Roger Moe, and Jerry Knutson completed their terms in 2019 and were recognized for their contributions during the spring meeting of CAAB held recently.

“These three board members have served as valuable members of CAAB, and collectively, they brought a wealth of experience and expertise to guide our work over the years,” says Brandy Chaffee, chief development officer at UMN Crookston.

Chancellor Mary Holz-Clause echoes Chaffee’s sentiment, “We will miss the presence on these three members of our Board but extend our gratitude for their willingness to share their knowledge and passion for students at the University of Minnesota Crookston.”

The longest-serving of the trio is Jerry Knutson, a former UMN Crookston faculty member, who retired from teaching in the biological sciences in 2004 and joined CAAB in 2005.

Pete Kappes graduated from UMN Crookston in 1977 with his associate degree when the campus was still a technical college. He has farmed in the Ada, Minn., area for many years and has been serving on the Board since 2007.

Roger Moe joined CAAB in 2014. The former Crookston Central High School graduate was a state senator from 1971 to 2003 and a candidate for governor of Minnesota during 2002 election.

Members of CAAB are appointed by the Chancellor and serve UMN Crookston by seeking ways to improve student and alumni success, provide high priority programs and initiatives, actively support advancement, and enhance partnerships and service to the community, region and beyond.
