THURSDAY, JULY 15 IS CRAZY DAYS IN CROOKSTON

Crazy Day’s in Crookston is set for Thursday, July 15. The event will feature a variety of different activities and festivities going on throughout the day. The Theme for this years’ event is “Crookston Vibes (70’s Theme).”

Vice-Chair of the Crookston Area Chambers Board of Directors Carrie Bergquist is one of the many people heading up the event this year and says the theme was something they wanted the public input on. “We decided that we were going to make the theme a contest, and that way we could engage the community a little more,” said Bergquist. “The contest went for a week, and I took the entries and presented them anonymously to our committee members for them to be voted on.”

The winning theme was selected unanimously and was submitted by Terri Heggie. Throughout the day, there will be several different events to highlight Crazy Days, with one of the biggest being “Business Bingo.” “The committee then decided that we would do business bingo, the cards are made up already, and there are nine spaces, with one of them being free,” said Bergquist. “They can pick them up at the Chamber or participating businesses, and they’ll have to get the employee working at the business to mark their card for them to prove they were there.”

The winner of the event will be announced at the KROX auction at 5:00 p.m. that night. The winner will receive a prize with various gift cards to different locations in Crookston. KROX will also have an auction that will take place earlier in the day at 9:30 a.m.

Other big events taking place to highlight Crazy Days include Scott’s True Value will have discounts on products up to 40% off, and the Grand Theatre will have free video games on the big screen from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with a buy one get one free admission with a concession purchase. Another great thing about this years’ event is that the new Executive Director of the Crookston Area Chambers, Mark Landa, will be using the event for a meet and greet to get to know the people of Crookston. “I will be spending a lot of time in our Chamber Office, so stop by, pick up a bingo card or drop it off and say hi,” said Landa. “I won’t be here all the time because I am going to look at the different shops and go around and get to know people. It’s just going to be a lot of fun, and we’re excited about the event.”

Bergquist made sure to praise all the committee members for all their hard work in making Crazy Day’s a reality. “This has all really started to evolve in just the last month,” said Bergquist. “Hats off to the committee members and all their hard work in this process.”
