TRAIN STRIKES SEMI IN GRAND FORKS, NO INJURIES REPORTED

On Monday, January 20 at approximately 5:05 p.m. officers of the Grand Forks Police Department were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash in the 1600 block of Old Mill Rd. involving a train and a semi-truck.  Initial investigation determined that a BNSF train was traveling northbound on the tracks and struck an eastbound semi-truck.  The semi-truck, driven by Travis Bitker (31 years old Bemidji, MN) was traveling through the yard of the State Mill at the time of the crash.  The BNSF train was traveling northbound at approximately 5-10 MPH on the track when it made contact with the semi-truck. There were no reported injuries. 

No charges have been forwarded at this time and the investigation is still open and active.  Anyone with any information regarding this case is asked to contact the police department by one of the following methods:
