TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH’S RHUBARB FESTIVAL AND BAKE SALE IS BACK ON JUNE 16

The Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston’s sweet annual Rhubarb Festival and Bake Sale returns on Thursday, June 16. Its Bake Sale starts at 10:30 a.m., and the Festival and Luncheon begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Trinity Church’s Dining Room. Trinity’s Women of ELCA is hosting the event, and everyone is invited to enjoy the Luncheon and/or donate items for the Bake Sale for the cost of $12.

The event begins with a Bake Sale at 10:30 a.m. in the Trinity Church’s Library, next to the Social Room, with the Church selling multiple baked goods brought in by the Church’s cooks and volunteers. Although the Festival’s theme is rhubarb, the Church says donated items for the Bake Sale do not have to contain rhubarb and welcomes any items brought in by volunteers. The Church is also asking for volunteers to drop off their baked goods for the sale before 10:00 a.m. to have them set and priced before the sale begins.

The Rhubarb Festival Luncheon starts at 11:00 a.m. in the Trinity Church’s Dining Room and runs until 1:00 p.m., with the cost of admission being $12. “We are having a delicious Ham Salad, with a rhubarb side salad. Fresh rolls from RBJ’s, a variety of desserts, coffee, of course, and lemonade,” explained Sandy Knudsvig. Knudsvig explained that unlike the previous two years, where the Luncheon did a Drive-By system, this year the Luncheon will be in-person with an extra option available for people to get food. “This year, we will be in Trinity’s Dining Room,” Knudsvig explained. “Last year, we did a Drive-By system, but this year, you can have Pick-up inside and To-Go Meals, but we will be celebrating inside for the most part,” she added. Knudsvig also mentioned that some of the items made at the Luncheon are recipes they have in their Rhubarb cookbook that they published a few years ago. Unfortunately, their latest printing of the books are sold out, but Knudsvig reports that some copies may still be available for purchase at RBJ’s or Willow & Ivy Gift Shop.

The event is hosted by the Trinity’s Women of ELCA (WELCA), a group of women church members who help run this Festival and the Bazaar in the Fall. Knudsvig reported that all of the money that both festivals raise is used to help the Church grow and improve while also going out to different charities and organizations throughout Crookston. “We’re grateful to have two times of the year to celebrate and get some money flowing for different events,” Sandy Knudsvig explained, “In the Fall, it all goes to charities that people can request that we give to, we have quite a few. In the spring, it’s used to help things that might need to be done in the Church or camperships, or different things like that,” she added.

The Trinity Lutheran Church’s annual Rhubarb Festival will take place on Thursday, June 16, with the Bake Sale beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the Luncheon going from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Trinity Church’s Dining Room. Admission for the event is $12, and if you are looking to volunteer any of your baked goods for the Bake Sale, you can drop them off in the Trinity Church’s Library at 10:00 a.m. to have them be set and priced in time for the sale. Come join the Church for a Festival of sweet food and fellowship with community members.
