CROOKSTON TEENS BROUGHT TO HOSPITAL AFTER DOG BITES

At about 3:30 PM yesterday, March 4, the Crookston Police Department responded to the area of Alexander Street and First Avenue NE on a report that two people had been bitten by a dog or dogs. A total of three people were bitten; a 7-year-old boy, a 13-year-old female and a 19-year-old female. After arriving on scene the officer called for an ambulance to assist in assessing and treating the victims. The 13-year old female was transported by ambulance to RiverView with injuries to a hand and lower leg; the severity is unknown. The 19-year old female drove herself to the hospital with injuries to a lower leg; the severity is unknown. The young boy did not receive injuries that broke the skin and was not evaluated by medical staff. Both dogs are a mixed breed, one medium size, one large, and are current with vaccinations including rabies. The owner of the dogs; Shaun Gruhot, 36, of Crookston, was cooperative and brought both dogs to the animal pound. The incident is under investigation and will be reviewed for possible charges.
