The University of Minnesota Crookston recently signed a memorandum of understanding with two Mongolian universities, including a joint degree program agreement in international business with Global Leadership University (GLU) of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and a partnership with Mongolian University of Life Sciences to explore opportunities in agriculture and animal science. Chancellor Mary Holz-Clause and Sok Leng Tan, director of global programs, met with the universities and the U.S. Embassy while in Mongolia.
U of M Crookston had connected with GLU the previous summer and welcomed two students from GLU for the fall semester, plus they’re anticipating another student for the spring semester. GLU President Otgonbat Barkhuu will be visiting U of M Crookston in May 2025.
During a visit with President Baasansukh Bardarch of the Mongolian University of Life Sciences, partnerships were explored to consider students in agronomy, animal genetics, and breeding science in a potential 2+2 joint degree program. Chief of International Cooperation and Partnership Sukhtulga Tseremmadmid says the partnership could “assist immensely the cooperation between universities and the youth of Mongolia.”
Tan outlined the current agreements U of M Crookston has with international universities, including one articulation agreement with a Vietnamese university, the new agreement with Global Leadership University, and agreements with two Chinese universities, Shenzhen Technology University and Neusoft Institute Guangdong. The purpose of the agreements, Tan says, is to establish cooperative academic relationships between the two institutions.
