UMC BASEBALL SPLITS WITH SW MINNESOTA STATE

The University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) Golden Eagles Baseball team has an outstanding pitching performance from Jake Osowski (EGF) and timely hitting to beat Southwest Minnesota State 8-0 but lost the second game 12-2 in seven innings. 

GAME ONE

FIRST INNING
Southwest Minnesota State singled twice but wasn’t able to score. In the bottom of the inning, UMC went three up and three down. 

SECOND INNING
In the top of the second Southwest Minnesota State singled again but had three straight outs. UMC got a single then got doubled up. Kodi Miller reached on an error and Danny Wensloff drove him in on an RBI single. UMC led 1-0 after two. 

THIRD INNING
Southwest Minnesota State got a two-out single but was caught stealing to end the inning. UMC got a double but couldn’t score him. 

FOURTH INNING
Southwest Minnesota State went three up and three down. UMC got an RBI double from Miller and an RBI double from Mitch Goodwin to go up 3-0. UMC scored on an error as they led 4-0. 

FIFTH INNING
Southwest Minnesota State singled twice but couldn’t score. UMC got a two-run double from Miller, then a two-run single from Wensloff to make it 8-0. 

SIXTH INNING
Southwest Minnesota State got a single but was doubled up on the next at-bat. UMC got a base runner on with a walk but couldn’t score. 

SEVENTH INNING
Southwest Minnesota State got a walk with two outs but UMC retired the final batter to get the 8-0 win.

GAME TWO –

FIRST INNING
Southwest Minnesota State got a solo home run on the first at-bat to go up 1-0. UMC got two singles to lead off the bottom of the first but recorded three straight outs. 

SECOND INNING
Southwest Minnesota State got a two-out double but wasn’t able to score. UMC drew two walks and was hit by a pitch to load the bases. UMC tied it on a single from Sawyer Satrom. UMC was hit by another pitch that drove in another run to make it 2-1. 

THIRD INNING
Southwest Minnesota State got a one-out double but couldn’t score. UMC went three up and three down but led 2-1. 

FOURTH INNING
Southwest Minnesota State scored on a wild pitch to tie it. Then, on a sacrifice fly to take the lead. Later in the inning, they would get an RBI double to take a 4-2 lead. UMC would get a double and a single but couldn’t drive them in. 

FIFTH INNING
Southwest Minnesota State would get a two-run home run and a sacrifice bunt to add to their lead and go up 7-2. UMC went three up and three down. 

SIXTH INNING
Southwest Minnesota State would get another run across with an RBI single to make it 8-2. UMC again went three up and three down. 

SEVENTH INNING
Southwest Minnesota State would get a three-run home run and another RBI single to go up 12-2. UMC went three up and three down once again to end the game. 

UMC is now 20-12 overall and 14-8 in conference play. Southwest Minnesota State is 19-13 overall and 13-10 in conference play. They play each other tomorrow.
