The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team swept the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) weekly honors as Ben Thoma (Sr., C/3B, Clearbrook,) was named the NSIC Player of the Week, while Jake Dykhoff (Jr., RHP, Wadena) was selected as the NSIC Pitcher of the Week. The weekly honor factored in games played on Saturday, February 5 and Sunday, February 6.
Thoma hit .300 in two wins against Northwestern Oklahoma State University Sunday. He blasted three home runs with five RBIs, and five runs scored in the victories over the Rangers. Thoma boasted a 1.564 OPS and a 1.200 slugging percentage in the victories. Thoma also had a .364 on-base percentage.
Dykhoff tossed five innings of shutout ball in a win over Northwestern Oklahoma State. He struck out eight and walked two of the 19 batters he faced. He held the opponent to a .118 batting average after allowing just two hits with a 0.80 WHIP.
The Golden Eagles are 2-1 heading into a six-game series with the University of Hawai’i-Hilo in Hilo, Hawai’i.
