UMC FOOTBALL’S JOE WARNER, WILL CROSS, JALIN SCOTT NAMED ALL-CONFERENCE

The University of Minnesota Crookston football team had three players earn All-NSIC honors as announced on Wednesday, November 20 by the conference office. The Golden Eagles were led by Joe Warner (Sr., DL, St. Louis Park), who was named All-NSIC North Division All-Conference Second Team. Will Cross (Sr., LB, Turtle Lake, Wis.) and Jalin Scott (Sr., QB, Houston, Texas) were named All-NSIC North Division Honorable Mention.

Joe Warner is a first-time All-NSIC pick. He had 34 tackles during his senior season with four tackle for loss and three sacks. Warner also tallied a fumble recovery on the season. Warner’s best game came with six tackles and a sack against Minnesota State University Moorhead. He also notched a sack versus St. Cloud State University and tallied 1.5 tackles for loss against Minot State University. Warner finished his career with 81 tackles from his defensive tackle spot with 10.5 tackles for loss and four sacks in two seasons.

Will Cross is a two-time All-NSIC Honorable Mention pick, earning the accolade in 2016. He tallied 75 tackles as a senior with 7.5 tackles for loss and a half-sack. Cross also notched one fumble recovery. His best game came with 13 tackles against MSU Moorhead. Cross tallied nine tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss versus St. Cloud State. He notched 12 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss in his final game against UMary. Cross finished his career with 243 tackles, falling just 35 tackles shy of the top five career tacklers in Minnesota Crookston history.

Jalin Scott is a first-time All-NSIC Honorable Mention selection. Scott led the Golden Eagles in passing yards and rushing yards as a senior. He was 89-of-185 for 1,201 passing yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. Scott rushed 142 times for 311 yards with one touchdown. Scott passed for 247 yards and three touchdowns against Upper Iowa University, and 255 yards against Northern State University. He rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown in the final game of his career against UMary. In his career, Scott passed for over 2,300 yards and 11 touchdowns and rushed for 499 yards and five touchdowns.

Nate Gunn of Minnesota State University was selected as the NSIC Offensive Player of the Year, while Chris Garrett of Concordia University, St. Paul earned NSIC Defensive Player of the Year accolades. Ali Mohamed of Minot State University was selected as the NSIC Offensive Newcomer of the Year, while Jack Leius of Minnesota State was named NSIC Defensive Newcomer of the Year. Jerry Olszewski of Augustana University was picked as the NSIC Coach of the Year, while Minnesota State Defensive Coordinator Jim Glogowski was named NSIC Assistant Coach of the Year.
