UMC has three named NSIC all-conference, Elias Leach named freshman of the year

The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball program had three student-athletes honored on the All-NSIC teams released this week by the conference office. Jackson Fliflet (R-So., C, Wahpeton, N.D.) was named All-NSIC First Team. Elias Leach (Fr., OF/LHP, Plymouth) was selected as All-NSIC Second Team and the NSIC Freshman of the Year, while Aaron Wensloff (Jr., IF, Roseau) was named to the All-NSIC Defensive Team as a third baseman. 

All three student-athletes are first time honorees by the NSIC. The Golden Eagles have had 13 student-athletes earn 15 All-NSIC First Team honorees in program history, with Josh Dykhoff earning the accolade in 2025. The Golden Eagles have had 14 players earn 16 All-NSIC Second Team honors. Minnesota Crookston has had eight players earn nine All-NSIC Defensive accolades. 

Leach is the third Golden Eagle in program history to earn NSIC Freshman of the Year, joining Josh Dykhoff (2023, who is now playing for the Kansas Jayhawks) and Jake Poehler (2008). Leach is hitting .333 in 48 games played, and 45 starts with 41 runs scored, 15 doubles, eight home runs, and 34 RBI. He has a .561 slugging percentage, with a .455 on-base percentage. 

Fliflet is swinging .329 with 45 runs scored, 11 doubles, 18 home runs, 48 RBI, and a .757 slugging percentage. He has a .424 on-base percentage. Fliflet leads the league in home runs this season.
