On Sunday, March 8, the UMC Hunt Seat Team was the Regional Champion for the second year in a row. One rider in each classification will represent the team down at IHSA Zone Championship. Eight riders qualified individually for Regionals and six will advance to the Zone competition in Texas.
Team results from regionals:
– Sophomore Kayley Melton will be representing the region as High Point Cacchione Rider, she also placed 2nd in Open Fences and 1st in Open Flat
– Junior Rachel Johnson placed 1st in Open Fences and 2nd in Open Flat
– Sophomore Morgan Schelske placed 3rd in Intermediate Fences and 2nd in Intermediate Flat
– Sophomore Taylor Barlage placed 2nd in Limit Fences and 4th in Limit Flat
– Senior Kristina Schroeder placed 2nd in limit flat
-Junior Sarah Cartier placed 5th in Limit Flat
– Sophomore Anna Woidyla placed 2nd in Walk/Trot
– Senior Amanda Olson placed 4th in Walk/Trot/Canter
-Sophomore Katie Orth just missed placings in Walk/Trot/Canter
The IHSA Zone Championship will be in Canyon, Texas at the West Texas A&M Horse Center on April 4 and 5 at 9 a.m. both days.
