UMC Men’s Basketball Freshman Spencer Swenson named NSIC North Player of the Week

University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagle Men’s Basketball’s Spencer Swenson, a 6’7 freshman from Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, has been named the Northern Sun Conference North Player of the Week for his outstanding two games last week.

The most important stat was that he led his team to victories over Minot State and the University of Mary, going 2-0 on the week. Swenson averaged an NSIC-best 28 points per game and added 10 rebounds per game. He had a new career high of 31 points in the win over Mary on Saturday, while tying a career high of 13 rebounds. Even better, he was 23 of 55 from the field, making 66 percent of his shots and was 9 of 11 from the free throw line for 82 percent.  He also averaged 1.5 blocks per game and became the first Golden Eagle freshman in program history to score 20 or more points five games in a row.

The Golden Eagles host Minnesota Duluth on Wednesday, a game you can hear on KROX Radio, and will wrap up the season when they travel to Bemidji State on Saturday.
