UMC MEN’S BASKETBALL LOSES TO BEMIDJI STATE IN SEASON FINALE

The University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagle Men’s Basketball team couldn’t stop the Bemidji State Beavers who shot 62 percent in the game and cruised to a 109-85 victory in the season finale played at Bemidji.

UMC took an 18-11 lead five minutes into the game, but Bemidji State used a 20-5 run to take a 31-23 lead. Bemidji State continued to have the hot hand and they took a 56-48 lead into halftime.

Bemidji State started the second half on a 6-0 run to take a double-digit lead made 15 of their first 20 shots in the half and kept making their shots on their way to a 109-85 victory.  Bemidji State senior, Derek Thompson broke the program’s single-game scoring record with 45 points. Thompson made 17 of 24 from the field.  UMC Freshman Josh Dilling scored 28 points.

UMC ends the season with a record of 2-14 overall and 1-13 in the NSIC North. Bemidji State improved to 7-9 overall and 6-8 in the NSIC North.
