UMC MEN’S CLUB HOCKEY HOSTS UNIVERSITY OF MARY

The University of Mary of Bismarck, N.D. scored the first three goals of the game and the #1 ranked Division II Club Hockey team defeated the University of Minnesota Crookston 5-2 at the Crookston Sports Center this afternoon.

The University of Mary Marauders hockey team has had plenty of experience so far this season with rhe University of Mary’s leading scorer, Alexander Flicek, a junior and home town boy from Bismarck, N.D. scored the first two goals of the game to give the Marauders a 2-0 lead early in the second period. Flicek’s 34 goals and 33 assists last season!!! Teammate Andrew Huber, another junior from Bismarck who scored 25 goals last year, scored with seven minutes to go in the second period to make it a 3-0 lead for the University of Mary who are playing their 24th game of the year compared to UMC who came into the game with a 2-3 record!! The Marauders out shot UMC 21-4 in the second period and 37-11 for the first two periods.
UMC would get their first tally just a minute into the third period when Josh Nelson (Fresh-East Grand Forks scored with helpers from Casey Kallock (Jr-East Grand Forks) and Cam Oistad (Soph-Grand Forks Central) to cut the U of Mary’s lead to 3-1.  The two teams had a bit of a shoot out in the third period, each scoring two goals with the Marauders scoring the next two goals  to put it out of reach at 5-1 before Oistad scored on a power play to make it 5-2 with four and a half minutes left in the game, but that would be all the scoring.
The University of Mary outshot UMC 50-24 in the game and improves to 22-1-2 on the year. UMC falls to 2-4. The two teams will finish the weekend series tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Crookston Sports Center.
