On October 1, John Loegering, professor of natural resources at the University of Minnesota Crookston, was recognized as a Fellow of The Wildlife Society Fellows Award (TWS). With the award, Loegering joins a prestigious and distinctive group of professionals with a legacy of service and a wealth of contributions to the wildlife ecology and management field. A certified wildlife biologist, Loegering serves as an advisor to the Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society, a group he helped organize when he arrived on the Crookston campus in 2000.
Loegering earned his doctorate in wildlife science from Oregon State University, Corvallis, Ore.; his masters in wildlife science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, Virginia; and his bachelor’s degree in zoology and biology from North Dakota State University, Fargo, N.D.
The Fellows Award recognizes current TWS members who have distinguished themselves through exceptional service to the wildlife profession and have been members for at least 10 years. TWS Fellows serve as ambassadors of The Wildlife Society and are encouraged to engage in outreach and other activities that will benefit and promote both TWS and the wildlife profession. Fellows are appointed for life. For more information on the TWS, visit https://wildlife.org/tws-fellows-program/
