UMC Soccer Gets Their First Win of the Year

The University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagle Soccer team scored a goal with two seconds left in the game to beat the Upper Iowa Peacocks 1-0 in a game played at Pattison Field in Fayette, Iowa.  The win was the first UMC win of the year.
The first half was a defensive battle as the teams only had one shot on goal apiece and the game was scoreless at halftime.
In the second half, there was a little more offense with five shots on goal and the teams were still scoreless.  It looked like UMC was going to play overtime for the second straight overtime game.  Upper Iowa had a chance in the last minutes to score the first goal of the game, but they were called for offsides.  The overtime possibility went out the window when
Maggee Hodgdon (Fresh. Newberg, Oregon) scored a goal when the ball was loose and bounced a couple of times and Hodgdon was one-on-one with the goalie, who came out to try to get the ball and Hodgdon was able to kick the ball past the goalie to win the game 1-0.
UMC improves to 1-6-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the NSIC.  Upper Iowa is still looking for their first NSIC win of the year and drop to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in the NSIC.
