The University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) soccer team scored for the second straight match but fell short in their comeback falling 2-1 against MSU-Moorhead in an NSIC match played at the UMC Soccer Field.
Minnesota State-Moorhead struck early in the first-half. Just 3:27 after the opening whistle, Jensen Odegaard (Jr., Kindred, ND) sent a pass to Lindsey Brownell (Sr., Fall City, WA) who fired a shot into the net giving the Dragons a 1-0 lead. MSU-Moorhead attempted 8 shots in the first half, but only three were on goal with UMC goalkeeper Athena DiMario Done (Jr., Windsor, Ontario) stopping two shots in the first half as the Dragons settled for a 1-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, MSU-Moorhead doubled their advantage with Kaylee Parsons (Soph., Belvidere, IL) scoring to give the visitors a 2-0 lead 63:52 into the contest. Minnesota Crookston pulled within a goal late after Samantha Donnay (Fr., Princeton) connected with Maggie Peterson (Jr., Princeton) for a goal with 4:27 to play. The Golden Eagles comeback bid would end there as MSU-Moorhead secured a 2-1 win.
Minnesota Crookston falls to 0-14 overall and 0-13 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles return to the pitch on Tuesday when UMC hosts Minot State making up a postponement from Sunday, October 13. Kick-off is at 1:00 P.M. from the UMC soccer field. MSU-Moorhead improves to 6-6-4 overall and 4-6-3 in conference play.
