The University of Minnesota Crookston trapshooting club ended their inaugural season by finishing second out of five teams in the USA College Clay Target League Conference 1-A Conference 2. The Golden Eagles had their best score of the season with a 449.5 to remain in second place to wrap up the inaugural season under Head Coach Andy Gjerswold.
UMC had 1,888 overall points, trailing Southwest Wisconsin Technical College out of Fennimore, Wis., who scored 2,813 points over the five-week season. The Golden Eagles edged Central Lakes College, which finished the year with 1,810.50 points. Bemidji State University placed fourth with 1,608 points, while Mitchell Technical College placed fifth in the league with 1,030.5 points.
The Golden Eagles were led by a pair of shooters who hit 48 of 50 targets with Nick Grams (Belle Plaine), and Colton Schrempp (Victoria). Steven Thompson (Park River, N.D.) connected on 47 of 50 targets. Beth Rockensock (Menahga) and Dan Rowe (Clarissa) hit 46 of 50 targets. Madie Wildfeuer (Ormsby) and Travis Loewen (Babbitt) hit 45 of 50 targets.
Karl Kosak (Olivia) hit 44 of 50 targets. Corey Mathies (Watkins) and McKena Wilmer (Williams) recorded a 43 and Treyton Hought (Breckenridge) posted a 42. Sabrina Schroeder (Oak Grove) and Pete Beam (Little Falls) hit 41.
