The University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagle volleyball team lost to the University of Sioux Falls Cougars 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-12) in a Northern Sun Conference match played at Lysaker Gymnasium in Crookston.
The first set was tight early on and UMC had an 11-10 lead when Sioux Falls went on a 9-1 run for a 19-12 lead. The Golden Eagles weren’t able to stop the momentum and Sioux Falls cruised to the 25-14 victory to take a 1-0 lead.
In the second set, Sioux Falls jumped out to a 10-6 lead, but UMC bounced back with a 4-0 capped by a Porath ace to tie the set at 10-10. The teams went back and forth for a handful of points before Sioux Falls finished the set on an 11-3 run to cruise to a 25-17 victory for a 2-0 lead.
Sioux Falls took early control in set three and didn’t look back as they won 25-12 to take the match 3-0.
UMC drops to 3-14 overall and 1-8 in the NSIC and will travel to Augustana on Friday.
