UMC Women’s Golf picked to finish 10th in NSIC poll

The University of Minnesota Crookston women’s golf team came in 10th in the annual NSIC Preseason Coaches’ Poll released by the conference office earlier this morning.

Augustana received nine first-place votes and topped the preseason poll, while Minnesota State and Winona State came in second and third. The University of Sioux Falls and Wayne State College round out the top five. Concordia-St. Paul was voted to finish in sixth, but it did receive a first-place vote.

Anaka Lysne (Jr., Wahpeton, N.D.) was named as the student-athlete to watch for the Golden Eagles. Lysne was named to the All-NSIC Second Team a season ago, becoming the first golfer in program history to achieve that honor. Lysne finished 16th at the NSIC Championships.

The Golden Eagles return a team with a lot of experience. Clara Hanson (Sr., Grand Forks, N.D.), Lauren Bowyer (Jr., Ivanhoe, Minn.), Ainsley McLain (So., Grafton, N.D.) and Libby Dulmage (So., Leeds, N.D.) all return and join Lysne in the expected top-five.

At the NSIC Championships, the Golden Eagles shattered a number of records, including a team score of 336, their lowest at the Championships in program history.

The Golden Eagles open up their fall portion of the schedule on Sept. 9 for a two-day tournament at the Tracy Lane Memorial Tournament, hosted by Bemidji State.
