The University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) Golden Eagles Women’s Soccer team failed to score for the fifth time in six games following a 4-0 loss to Southwest Minnesota State in an NSIC match played in Marshall, Minnesota.
The Mustangs dominated possession in the opening half and generated seven shots on goal during the first 45 minutes of the match. Southwest Minnesota State broke through for its first goal of the match at the 20:24 mark when Abbey Hoisington (Soph., Chantilly, VA) took a pass from Alli Miskowiec (Sr., Andover) and slotted it past UMC goalkeeper Athena DiMario Done (Jr., Windsor, Ontario) giving the hosts a 1-0 lead. Just 2:03 later, Alli Miskowiec scored her first goal of the match doubling SMSU’s advantage to 2-0 heading into halftime.
In the second half, Southwest Minnesota State continued its strong form. Alli Miskowiec scored her second straight goal 10:29 into the second half putting the Mustangs ahead 3-0. Southwest Minnesota State closed out the scoring in the match 63:22 into the match with a strike from Alex Lotts (Fr., Champlin) making it 4-0. Amanda Haimes (Fr., Ladera Ranch, CA) stopped all four shots she faced in net for SMSU preserving the 4-0 shutout win for the Mustangs.
Minnesota Crookston falls to 0-6 overall and 0-5 in conference play. The Golden Eagles return to the pitch on Sunday when UMC takes on Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls at 1:00 P.M. SMSU improves to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the NSIC.
