UMC Soccer Ties Winona State

The University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) women’s soccer team managed to score their first goal in the month of September late in regulation before settling for a 1-1 draw against the Winona State Warriors in an NSIC matchup played at Maxwell Field in Winona.
The University of Minnesota Crookston was held without a single shot in the first half, but goalkeeper Athena DiMario Done (Soph., Windsor, ON) made the two saves required of her to keep the first half scoreless after the opening forty-five minutes.
Winona State continued to dominate possession in the second-half when Bridget Doran (Jr., Wheaton, IL) scored her first goal of the season with a shot into the top left corner on a free-kick giving the Warriors a 1-0 lead 66:16 into the match. UMC continued to struggle to generate offense until late in the match when the Golden Eagles leveled the score on a shot into the right side of the net struck by Lindsey Dami (Jr., North Pole, AK) with just under three minutes left in regulation to force overtime.
Minnesota Crookston was held without a shot in overtime, but DiMario Done made three more saves in the extra twenty minutes to preserve the 1-1 draw.
The Golden Eagles improve to 0-6-1 overall and 0-3-1 in NSIC play. Minnesota Crookston continues its road trip in Fayette, Iowa on Sunday with a matchup against Upper Iowa at 11 a.m. Winona State drops to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
