ST. CLOUD STATE’S LATE GOAL EDGES UMC WOMEN’S SOCCER IN LAST HOME MATCH OF YEAR

Nicole Friis goal with just under 19 minutes to go in the match proved to be the winning mark as the St. Cloud State Huskies defeated the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles 3-2 in a Northern Sun Conference match in Crookston. After a scoreless first half, St. Cloud State scored just over a minute into the second half and took a 2-0 lead 12 minutes late. UMC which has a 12 match losing streak coming into this match, struck back with two goals, Morgan Laplante (Jr-De Soto, Kansas) from Abby Fettinger and then just under three minutes later, Fettinger (Fresh-White Bear Lake) struck and it was 2-2 with just over 26 minutes left in the match before Friis struck. The Huskies outshot UMC 19-5 in the match. UMC has lost 13 matches in a row and the Golden Eagles are 1-16 on the season and 1-13 in the Northern Sun Conference. St. Cloud State is 6-7-3 overall and 6-5-3 in the conference is now tied for eighth place which is the last place to qualify for the Conference Championships next week!! UMC will close out their season on Friday at Bemidji State.
