UNIDENTIFIED INDIVIDUAL DIES OF POSSIBLE DRUG OVERDOSE IN FOSSTON

On Thursday, March 21 at approximately 12:24 p.m., the Polk County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible drug overdose in the City of Fosston. Polk County Deputies arrived and attempted to resuscitate the victim. Essentia Ambulance arrived shortly after and the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased was transported to the UND Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

Identification of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family.

The Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force is conducting a thorough investigation into the events leading up to her death. Once the Medical Examiner’s Office provides information on the cause of death, further investigation will follow and possible charges will be determined by the Polk County Attorney’s Office.

The Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force is a collaboration of investigators from eight counties in NW Minnesota, including Polk County. The Task Force investigates violent crime, including drug distribution and deaths involving suspected controlled substance abuse.

As this is an ongoing investigation, no further comments will be provided.
