UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN MEN’S CLUB HOCKEY SCORE THREE IN THE THIRD TO WIN 6-3 OVER UMC

The University of Jamestown’s Braeden Thomas scored three goals in a row from the second into the third period to lead the Jimmies to a 6-3 win over the University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) Men’s Club Hockey team in a game at Wilson Arena in Jamestown to gain a split with the Golden Eagles. Jamestown never trailed in the game although it was tied at 1-1 when UMC’s Tyler Zahradka (Soph-Grand Forks Central, N.D.) scored his team leading 13th goal just 28 seconds into the second period after UMC trailed 1-0 after a period. Then it was Thomas scoring spree with one a minute after Zahradka’s goal, one in the middle of the second period and at 1:25 of the third to give the Jimmies a 4-1 lead. Zahradka got another one in the third period as did UMC’s Nikolai Rajala (Fresh-Greenway-Coleraine) but UMC spent time in the penalty box in the third period and Jamestown scored two power play goals to win it 6-3.  UMC is 4-4-2 on the season and 3-3-2 in the WCCHA Conference. Jamestown is now 5-5 on the season. UMC will be home next weekend hosting Dakota State of Bottineau (N.D.) on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon at the Crookston Sports Center.
