UPDATE: Northwest Minnesota Dairy Day in McIntosh has been postponed to Monday, April 8.
The University of Minnesota Extension Polk County office is proud to announce the annual Dairy Day on March 14 in McIntosh says extension educator Heather Dufault. “We have the Northwest Minnesota Dairy Day happening next Thursday, March 14,” said Dufault. “It will be from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Community Center in McIntosh.
The program will feature information in a variety of areas says, Dufault. “We’re going to be discussing some feed efficiency issues for crossbreed animals vs Holsteins dairy animals,” said Dufault. “Northland Community and Technical College are going to come in and talk about their enterprise and financial followings from their adult management workshop and the struggles the dairy industry is having. We’ll have updates from Minnesota Dairy and Minnesota Milk. We’re having some speakers come in talk about preparing our pastures and what grass species might be the best for some of those pastures. And we’re also going to talk about the new milk risk management plans with the farm bill. There is a lot of information and a lot of struggles going on in the dairy industry.”
The program is directed at dairy producers, allied industry representatives and is open to the public. A meal will be served with the program.
