On Tuesday, October 29, Dr. Mark Thomas, a professor of neuroscience at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, will be speaking on addiction in Kiehle Auditorium from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the University of Minnesota Crookston. Everyone is welcome and parking is recommended in Lot G.

Dr. Thomas is also the scientific director of the Medical Discovery Team on Addiction, a new research program funded by the state legislature to power cross-disciplinary collaborations and discover new treatment options. Dr. Thomas’ research examines how addictive drugs affect the brain and how these changes can lead to compulsive drug use. His lab is focusing on ways to disrupt addiction relapse.
His presentation on Tuesday, October 29, will be followed by a law enforcement round table discussion with Dr. Thomas on October 30 at 10:00 a.m., as well as health care provider round table discussion with Dr. Thomas on the same day at 1:00 p.m. Both of these discussions will take place on the UMN Crookston campus.
