The University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagle Volleyball team struggled in a 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-8) loss to the Upper Iowa University Peacocks in a Northern Sun Conference match played in Fayette, Iowa.
Upper Iowa jumped out to a 4-1 lead with four kills to start the match. UMC answered with three straigh points to tie the set at 4. The teams were tied again at 7 and Upper Iowa held a 17-14 lead when they went on an 8-1 to win 25-15 for a 1-0 lead in the match.
In the second set, Upper Iowa led 4-3 when they went on another 8-1 run for a 12-4 lead. The run was too much for UMC to recover from and Upper Iowa won the second set 25-14 for a 2-0 lead.
Upper Iowa dominated the third set and jumped out to a 16-2 lead and cruised to a 25-8 victory for a 3-0 win.
UMC drops to 4-20 on the year and 2-14 in the NSIC and will travel to Bismarck, North Dakota on Friday. Upper Iowa improves to 16-8 overall and 9-7 in the NSIC.
