Vaunda Lea (Beach) Schutt – Obit

Vaunda Lea (Beach) Schutt, 83, of Ada Minnesota, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of September 10, 2022, at the Benedictine Care Community in Ada.

Vaunda Lea was born January 14, 1939, in Carrington, North Dakota to Elmer and Evelyn (Graham) Beach.  She grew up in Carrington and graduated from Carrington High School in 1957.  Go Cardinals!  She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company after graduating.

On August 24, 1958, she married her high school sweetheart, Gene A. Schutt in Carrington.  They lived in Valley City, North Dakota for one year while Gene finished college.  In the fall of 1959, they moved to Tolna, North Dakota where they lived for 11 years.  In 1970, they moved to Ada, Minnesota.  Over the years in Ada, Vaunda Lea worked at Olson’s Men’s Wear, Norman County Assessor’s office, and American Federal Bank.

Vaunda Lea had many interests including reading, gardening, sewing, quilting, hardanger, cooking, canning, and traveling.

Her greatest love was her family:  4 daughters, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.  Vaunda Lea is survived by her daughters: Kelly (Brad) Ness, Brookings, SD, Kim (Cary) Schutt-Lakeman, Alpine WY, Kathy Schutt, Minnetonka MN, Karla Peterick, Detroit Lakes MN.  Grandchildren:  Andrew (Jessica) Ness, Ada MN, Sarah (Steven) Todd, Littleton CO, Tomas Chardon, Parker CO, Logan Peterick, Detroit Lakes MN, Gabriela Chardon, St. Paul MN, and Greta Peterick, Grand Forks, ND, 5 Great-grandchildren:  Makenna, Bridger, Torsten, Brooklyn, and Olivia Kate.  Her brother, Gordon Beach, Carrington, ND, 6 niece and nephews, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Evelyn; and husband, Gene.

Visitation:  5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada MN with a time for sharing memories of Vaunda beginning around 6:30 pm.

Funeral Service:  10:30 am, Friday, September 16, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada MN, with interment in Carrington ND at 3:00 pm.
