Virgil Robert Love Jr – Obit

Virgil Robert Love Jr, 68, of Crookston, MN, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Monday morning, March 7, 2022, at RiverView Health in Crookston.

Virgil was born on January 26, 1954, in Columbus, OH, the son of Virgil Robert and Margaret (Tiede) Love Sr. He grew up in Columbus and was a graduate of Ft. Knox High School there. After school, Virgil enlisted in the US Navy and served stateside until his honorable discharge. He then moved to Las Vegas, NV where he worked. Virgil later married Tanya Wierwille and a daughter, Melissa, was born to their union. After several years the family, including Tanya’s son, Thomas Lovelace, and her oldest daughter, Amber Love, moved to Grand Junction, CO where Virgil managed the Schlotzsky’s Deli until his retirement. In 2019 he moved to Crookston to live with Melissa and his 2 grandsons, Michael and Wyatt. Virgil enjoyed going fishing whenever he got the chance to wet a line, and in later years had discovered how fun and challenging it was to play video games, especially Zelda.

Virgil is survived by his daughter, Melissa Love, and her fiancé, Tyler McManis, of Crookston; a step-son, Thomas Lovelace of Thief River Falls, MN; 2 grandsons, Wyatt and Michael; his spouse, Tanya Love of Crookston; a step-daughter Amber Love of Crookston, sister-in-law, Rhonda Love of Ohio; a niece and nephew, Lashonda Love and Berry Love II; and many more. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Berry Love.

A private family memorial service will be held in celebration of the life of Virgil Love Jr.
