CITY OF CROOKSTON IS LOOKING TO APPOINT A WARD 5 COUNCIL MEMBER

The City of Crookston is seeking a citizen of Ward 5 to be appointed as the Ward 5 Council Member. This appointment will be short-term through December 31, 2024. The election process in November will include the Ward 5 Council Member seat.

The Minnesota Constitution and state statutes set the qualifications for elective office. To hold elective City office, an individual must be a qualified City voter, at least 21 years of age on the date of taking office, be a U.S. citizen, and be a resident of the City for at least 30 days before the appointment. An individual who has been convicted of a felony under either state or federal law cannot hold elective office in Minnesota unless the individual’s civil rights have been restored.

For consideration regarding this opportunity, please submit a written statement providing your name, address, phone number, and why you wish to assume the Ward 5 Council Member position to City Hall by Friday, June 28 at 4:30 p.m. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please get in touch with City Hall at 218-281-1232.

Interviews for Ward 5 Council Members will take place on Monday, July 8, at the Ways & Means Committee meeting immediately following the City Council meeting.
