WARREN-ALVARADO-OSLO GIRLS BASKETBALL BEATS BLACKDUCK 61-45

The Warren-Alvarado-Oslo Girls Basketball team nabbed 39 rebounds as they cruised to a 61-45 victory over the Win-E-Mac Patriots at the Northern Blast Classic at the Ralph Englestad Arena.

FIRST HALF-
Win-E-Mac scored the game’s first points with a Kianna Tadman floater before Warren-Alvarado-Oslo went on a 7-0 run, including five points from Annie Peterson. Win-E-Mac made a two, and the Ponies responded with a three from Reegan Mortimer to take a 10-4 lead.
Win-E-Mac went on a 6-0 run over the next two minutes to tie up the game at 10-10 before Peterson ended the run with a lay-up to make it 12-10. This started a 12-0 run for Warren-Alvarado-Oslo, including six points from Hannah Pederson and a Macey Boe three-pointer, giving the Ponies a 22-10 lead.
It was back-and-forth over the next three minutes, with Mortimer hitting a long two and Pederson getting an and-one to give Warren-Alvarado-Oslo a 31-18 lead with 1:16 left in the half.
Win-E-Mac hit a jumper before Mortimer made a lay-up to make it 33-20 Ponies. Hanna Stroble hit two free throws with eight seconds left before Kiersten Anderson hit a floater with one second left, making it 35-22 Warren-Alvarado-Oslo at the half.

SECOND HALF –
Warren-Alvarado-Oslo started the half with a Mortimer three-pointer to give the Ponies a 38-22 lead. The game was back-and-forth for the next few minutes before Mortimer made a lay-up 3:00 into the half to make it 41-28.
At 5:40 into the half, the Ponies went on an 8-0 run, including two consecutive threes from Mortimer and a lay-up from Pederson, to make it 51-32. Win-E-Mac ended the run with a three-pointer, but Mortimer hit another three-pointer shortly after to make it 54-35 Ponies. The next few minutes were back-and-forth before Mortimer hit a putback, and Peterson got an and-one to give Warren-Alvarado Oslo a 61-40 lead with less than three minutes to go in the game. The Ponies pulled their starters two minutes later before Win-E-Mac scored the game’s last five points, and Warren-Alvarado-Oslo won by a score of 61-45.

 

Warren-Alvarado-Oslo improves to 4-2 on the season and hosts Red Lake County Central on Thursday. Win-E-Mac falls to 1-6 on the season and takes on Climax-Fisher on Tuesday.
