WASHINGTON AND HIGHLAND SCHOOLS HOST READ-A-THON FOR STUDENTS

Washington and Highland Elementary School students are participating in the Read-A-Thons event that kicked off on Nov 6 with “Drop Everything and Read.” Students are having fun reading and also participating in themed days, including Cat in the Hat Day, Color Day, Favorite Book Day, Reading is Everywhere, and Wacky Wednesday. The read-a-thons events concluded on Friday, November 17, with Bedtime Story Day, and students can wear their pajamas and bring their favorite bedtime story to school.

Students read 186,141 minutes during their read-a-thon fundraisers. Highland read 143,845 minutes, and Washington read 42,296.

Money raised will be used for field trip admissions/buses in the spring, school supplies students need, enrichment materials teachers request for their classrooms, and to support special days and activities planned for students throughout the year. Donations can be made online or mailed to the schools: “Highland PTO” 801 Central Ave N or “Washington PTO” 724 University Ave.
