The Washington Elementary School held its Kindergarten Round-Up on Thursday, April 21.
The event began with the children receiving name tags and colored stickers that would assign them to one of the four Kindergarten teachers that would go with them to see what a day of Kindergarten and the classrooms were like. Washington Elementary principal Denice Oliver welcomed the parents and gave a brief introduction of the staff before directing the students to go with their assigned teachers to partake in daily activities they would do in Kindergarten, like storytime and games.
The parents then received an informative presentation from Principal Oliver about what the children would be doing in kindergarten and some of the things that the school offered them, such as breakfast meals, books at the library, and recess. They also received a yellow guidebook telling them what they could do to prepare their children for kindergarten. They then saw a small video of the Washington staff introducing themselves and learning what they do for the children, along with pictures of students during the school year.
The parents then went to the classrooms their children were in and got to see the classrooms themselves and ask the teachers any questions they had about the Kindergarten class or anything at Washington School. The parents and students then got to go outside for a family bus ride in two buses to see what it is like to ride the school bus.
