Washington School will welcome students Monday September 16

Washington School in Crookston is gearing up for the start of their school year.  The first day of the School Readiness Program is Monday, September 16. Gina Gunderson, Early Childhood Coordinator and ECFE- Parent Educator, says the teachers are ready for students. “There has been a lot happening over the summer; a lot of time and energy has been spent making sure the school is clean, the classrooms are looking great, floors are waxed, all of those things that go into preparing,” said Gunderson. “We are really excited; School Readiness begins on Monday, September 16, so teachers have been just busy getting their classrooms rolling.”

The Crookston Public School Board approved adding a School Readiness teacher this year. “We will have seven sections of School Readiness,” says Gunderson. “With adding the seventh section it allowed us to decrease class sizes from 18 to 16 which is a really positive thing for children, there is just a lot of benefits to having a smaller class size.”

With School Readiness starting on Monday, Gunderson says that, as always, the safety of the children is the school’s number one priority. “With parents bringing and dropping off children on Monday, make sure you are parking in the parking lot and walking your children into the gym,” says Gunderson.

Monday, September 16, is the first day of school for School Readiness Students.  Please be mindful of buses and crosswalks so we can keep our children safe.
