WATER DEPARTMENT CONTINUES INSTALLING NEW RESIDENTIAL WATER METERS AROUND TOWN

The Crookston Water Department continues to update water meters in homes across Crookston.  They have finished almost every home south of the Red Lake River and continue to work their way north said Water Department Superintendent Brandon Carlson.   “We’re trying to finish up book 2 and 14 and moving into five and six,” said Carlson.  “The first two numbers on your account represent your book number.  Everything south of the river pretty much done and we’re starting to work into the central downtown residential areas.  We had a little bit of a delay this winter with the meters not showing up when they were supposed to, but we’ve got them now and are moving forward.”

Originally on a five-year plan, Carlson hopes to be done by the end of next winter, two years ahead of the plan. “I’m hoping with pushing hard right now and if we have a good winter next winter I’m hoping we’ll be done next winner,” said Carlson.  “It was originally a five-year plan, but we’re going a little quicker than expected.  We’re on our second year and we’ve got about 1,100 in, it’s been going well so far.”
