WEST MARSHALL FALLS TO ADA-BORUP-WEST IN SECTION 8A LOSER OUT GAME

The West Marshall Fusion didn’t get a hit until the sixth inning as the Ada-Borup-West Cougars manufactured five runs in a loser-out game in the Section 8A Baseball tournament in Thief River Falls.

After two scoreless innings, Ada-Borup-West got on the board in the bottom of the third inning.  Beau Fetting started with a single and stole second base before scoring on a Beau Jorgenson double.  Jorgenson’s courtesy runner scored on a wild pitch a few batters later, and the Cougars led 2-0.

After two more scoreless innings, West Marshall finally got their first hit when Nick Winge led off with a single and was later out at second.  Will McGlynn reached on a fielder’s choice, Demetrius Oberg blasted a line drive to the centerfield fence, and runners were at second and third base. Aiden Anderson singled through the left side of the infield to score McGlynn.  Oberg also tried to score, but Ada-Borup-West perfectly executed the relay, and they tagged Oberg out as he slid into home plate for the out, and Ada-Borup-West led 2-1.
Ada-Borup-West answered in the bottom of the sixth inning when Trent Sip reached on a fielder’s choice.  Beau Fetting doubled, and a run scored when Beau Jorgenson hit a sacrifice fly for a 3-1 lead.  Oliver Kritzberger singled to score a run for a 4-1 lead, and the Cougars’ Austin McCraven singled to score another run for a 5-1 lead going into the seventh inning.

West Marshall led off the seventh inning with a strike out before a Ty Winge single.  Josh Tallum pinch-hit and reached on a fielder’s choice before the next batter struck out, and Ada-Borup-West won the game 5-1 to advance.

West Marshall ends the season with a 12-9 record and will say goodbye to ONLY two seniors, Ty Winge and Josh Tallum.
Ada-Borup-West improves to 15-4 and will take on Fosston for the rights to play Sacred Heart in the championship.
