William Patrick Dormady was born on January 12, 1942, in Crookston, MN, the son of William Dennis and Stella (Grommesh) Dormady.  He was baptized and confirmed at the Crookston Cathedral.  Bill attended high school at Crookston Cathedral, graduating in 1960.  He attended Mayville State University for one year.

In 1961 Bill enlisted with the U.S. Army.  After serving two years was honorably discharged, then served two years in the National Guard.

On August 7, 1965, Bill was united in marriage to Betty Edwardson at Crookston Cathedral.  They were blessed with a son, Brian in 1967.

From 1963 until 1965 Bill worked in sales for the Crookston Times. In 1965 Bill and Betty moved to Moorhead and accepted a job with the Fargo-Moorhead Appliance Parts Company.  He sold parts for the company until 1969.  In 1969 Bill and Betty moved to Thief River Falls.  Bill started employment with Arctic Enterprises in the testing department, working there until 1974.  In 1974 Bill purchased part ownership in Northland Electronics/Radio Shack.  He sold his part ownership in the business in 1978 and accepted employment at Artic Enterprises where he worked until 1980.  For many years Bill battled seizures and epilepsy.  Through perseverance and a strong will, he was able to return to Arctco Inc. in the service parts department.  He retired in 2007.

In high school, Bill enjoyed hockey, football, and baseball.  In later years of his life, he enjoyed fast-pitch softball, bowling, deer hunting at his shack near Fourtown, having coffee and shaking dice at “The Club” for a quarter, and playing cards in the back room.  His retirement years were filled with his obsession to go fishing with Betty.  He would fish anywhere and anytime, however, most of his and Betty’s time was spent at Devils Lake.  Another one of his passions was to spend his mornings playing Pinochle at the VFW with “The Boys.”  He was a member of the Thief River Falls VFW and he enjoyed LA Dodgers baseball and Notre Dame football.

Bill is survived by his wife, Betty, and son, Brian (Teri).

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Dennis Dormady and Stella (Grommesh) Dormady; sisters, Dr. Mary Louise Clark, and Kay Francis Dormady.
