William “Bill” Janssen – OBIT

William (Bill) F. Janssen, 89, died on June 13, 2025, at RiverView Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Bill was born on February 27, 1936, in Crookston, Minnesota. He was united in marriage 69 years ago to Doris Ann Palmer. They raised four children, Cindy, Kathy, Scott, and Todd.

Bill worked for the City of Crookston for 38 years as the Street Superintendent. After retirement he began a second career as a bus driver for the Crookston Public Schools for 17 years. He was lovingly known as “Grandpa Bill” by the kids.

Family meant everything to Bill and he and Dory built a cabin on Maple Lake and enjoyed many cherished memories with family.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Doris, four children- Cindy (Dave) Kucera of Crookston, Kathy (Mike) Wilkens of Cedaredge, CO, Scott (Debbie) of Anchorage, AK, and Todd (Missy) of Maple Lake.

Seven grandchildren- Angela, Megan, Chelsea, Derek, Bradley, Emily, and Jaikob. Ten great-grandchildren- Jimmy, Avalyn, William, Eden, Charlie, Trigg, Ruth, Mara, Grayson, and Carson.

Also survived by brother Jerry Janssen, sisters-in-law Joni Tollefson and Bonny (Larry Landwehr) and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Edith, brothers Orval, Robert, Wayne, and sister Joanne.

A funeral service honoring Bill’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
