Winter Storm Watch issued for Monday evening through Tuesday evening in portions of NW Minnesota and Eastern ND

The National Weather Service in Grand Forks, North Dakota has issued a Winter Storm Watch for late Monday evening through late Tuesday night.
The watch includes the following Minnesota counties: Polk, Norman, Clay, Lake of the Woods, Marshall, Beltrami, Pennington, Red Lake, Clearwater, Mahnomen, Hubbard, Becker, Wilkin, Otter Tail, and Wadena. The following North Dakota counties: Walsh, Grand Forks, Griggs, Steele, Traill, Barnes, Cass, Ransom, Sargent, and Richland.
The Watch includes the following cities – Crookston, Warren, Red Lake Falls, Thief River Falls, Grand Forks, Wadena, Mayville, Fargo, Ada, Red Lake, Fosston, Bemidji, East Grand Forks, Grafton, Bagley, Breckenridge, Fergus Falls, Hillsboro, New York Mills, Lisbon, Newfolden, Moorhead, Crookston, Detroit Lakes, Cooperstown, Finley, Wahpeton, Halstad, Baudette, Mahnomen, Lake Itasca, Valley City, Middle River, and Park Rapids.


…WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH LATE TUESDAY NIGHT…

  • WHAT…Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 6 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.
  • WHERE…Portions of central, north central, northwest, and west central Minnesota and northeast and southeast North Dakota.
  • WHEN…From late Monday night through late Tuesday night.
  • IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.

    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation.
    Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you survive in case you become stranded.
